The ACPL-329J (also known as HCPL-329J or A329J) is an advanced intelligent gate drive optocoupler from Broadcom, designed to simplify and enhance IGBT gate drive circuit design. With a 1.5A output current capability and integrated protection features, it provides a compact, cost-effective, and easy-to-implement solution for driving power IGBTs and MOSFETs in motor drives, inverters, and industrial power conversion systems.

The device integrates an AlGaAs LED optically coupled to a high-performance output stage IC, providing galvanic isolation between the control side and the power side. Its comprehensive built-in protection suite — including VCE desaturation detection, UVLO, soft turn-off, active Miller clamping, and isolated fault feedback — eliminates the need for multiple discrete protection components, significantly reducing BOM complexity and PCB area.
