The DRV8825 is a Texas Instruments-based stepper motor driver module capable of driving bipolar stepper motors with up to 1/32 microstepping resolution. It is a direct drop-in upgrade over the A4988, offering finer step resolution and higher current capacity, making it the go-to driver for 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, and precision motion control projects.

Key Specifications:

  • Driver IC: Texas Instruments DRV8825
  • Motor supply voltage: 8.2V – 45V
  • Logic supply voltage: 3.3V – 5V
  • Output current: up to 2.2A continuous, 2.5A peak (with heatsink)
  • Microstepping modes: full, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32
  • Built-in overcurrent protection
  • Thermal shutdown protection
  • Under-voltage lockout (UVLO)
  • Short-circuit protection
  • Adjustable current limit via onboard potentiometer
  • Compatible with 3.3V and 5V logic systems
